!±8± The Five Most Important Elements To That Perfect Cup Of Coffee

The perfect cup of coffee will always be determined by the person drinking it, making it a subjective practice. Your preferences will most likely be different than mine, and I will have different preferences from the next person. However, there are five steps to making that perfect cup of coffee no matter what your taste is.

The five steps to crafting your perfect cup of coffee are:

1) Fresh Coffee Beans

Using fresh beans is the first step to a great cup of java. Grind the beans at the store or at home if you have your own grinder. There are two types of home grinders. There are the burr and the blade grinders. The burr is a popular choice because the beans get ground in a consistent manner. Be sure to buy your beans in small amounts. Get only enough to last a week or two. Avoid those large containers of pre-ground beans that have sat around in the stores. When grinding your own beans, grind them as close to the brewing time as possible. You will have to figure out how you like the various types of grinds. Do you like it fine medium or coarse? What flavor do you want? Do you prefer the regular coffee flavor or do you like to venture out and try the various flavored beans? You can get anything from hazelnut to berry flavored coffees; the list goes on and on.

2) The Coffee Maker

There are countless coffee makers on the market. Do you use a french press? Are you the single cup coffee maker type of person? Is drip coffee suitable to your needs? Do you like Turkish coffee? Each method of brewing coffee will produce a different tasting cup of coffee, so you would do well to research these various types to determine what your immediate needs are.

3) Cleanliness

Keep your coffee maker clean. If you can see coffee stains or it smells like coffee, then it is time to clean your machine. There are various products on the market that you can use to maintain your coffee maker. Spending a few minutes every day for routine maintenance on your coffee brewer will really pay dividends in the way of taste and durability.

4) Water

Water is very important for your perfect cup of coffee. In fact, it represents 98% of the entire cup of coffee you drink every morning. Fresh cold filtered water is a good start. Tap waters various minerals and other elements can affect the taste of the coffee, but will work in many instances. The best temperature of the water used should be between 195 degrees and 205 degrees F.

5) Proportion

The ratio of coffee to water is important to the quality in your cup of coffee. Two scoops of coffee in your standard coffee funnel to six ounces of water are recommended. However, you can vary this according to the strength of coffee you desire.

These are five steps to a perfect cup of coffee. First you have to start with freshly ground beans. You have to find a coffee maker that makes your perfect cup of coffee and you have to keep that coffee maker clean a Keurig coffee maker or Cuisinart drip machine is a place to start your research. Since water is the base used to get the coffee made it has to be good. Tap water has too many different elements in it which affects the flavor of your coffee.

How to Make a Coffee Table Book

!±8± How to Make a Coffee Table Book

Coffee time is a time for good conversation. What could be a better way to start the conversation ball rolling than to have a conversational piece on your coffee table just begging to be talked about? A coffee table book is the perfect conversation starter. They are easy to make, easy to place in a small spot, and very easy to talk about time after time. With a few pictures and some cut out comments you are on your way.

1. Gather information for a title. This is not a difficult task and involves having fun. Think about a favorite fishing trip, camping trip, birthday party, or some special event that is memorable.

2. Pick out pictures. Gather as many pictures as you can find. If you are short on pictures, go through old magazines and find related pictures that will add pizzazz to your coffee table book. Next copy the pictures at your favorite Wal-Mart, Rite Aid, or favorite photo-mat. Gather some colored paper or scrap booking paper, depending upon your budget. Arrange colored paper out on the bed and lay the pictures on them in various arrangements until you are satisfied with how they look. Stick a small wad of glue to the back of each one and stick it temporarily in place until you are sure the pictures are where you want them. After you are sure where they look the best, make your coffee table book pictures permanent securing them down with scrap booking glue. Get creative...cut around the pictures and glue captions next to the mouth of each like a blurb of what they are saying. This is the fun part.

3. Create a list of comments and captions on note pad and print it out, or design your own with colored pencils. This is the fun part. You can say anything to make your conversation liven up, like: "Uncle Jack almost exploded when that fish got off his line!" Next to it could be a little volcano. Or you can use stars to simulate he was so mad that he saw stars. Cut the comments out in either strips or rounds or any shape you wish to fit with your pictures. Really all you are doing is making a coffee table scrapbook for good conversation.

4. Purchase a scrapbook or photo album. This step leaves you wide open to have a very fancy book, a modern style, a country-style, or a silly willy style. I would suggest picking out an album with a place for a picture on the front. This is the introduction of a fantastic conversation. If it's a book about great cooking, you could have a picture of a homemade cake or great pasta dish on the cover. If it's a coffee table book on a fantastic trail ride, pick out a good picture of the trail, horse, and rider and put it on the front of the album. Your album can be any size from 5x7 to 9x12 inches, depending upon the space you have available on your coffee table.

5. Involve the kids and grand kids in making memories come alive and share them with friends and family in your very own coffee table book. Kids love to help. They get really excited if they think they have contributed to a masterpiece. So what if it isn't perfect. Perfect is a little bit twisted anyway. If kids are involved, they will make sure guests and family SEE the book. You will get more compliments if it's a family effort and the conversation will perpetuate naturally into a wonderful visit. Make memories come alive! Have fun making your very own masterpiece. Make a conversational coffee table book, and make it fun.
